Mikael Kubista, PhD
Professor & Molecular Diagnostics Pioneer
Mikael Kubista is a professor and head of the Laboratory of Gene Expression at the Institute of Biotechnology at the Czech Academy of Sciences. An early adopter of quantitative PCR (qPCR), Mikael founded MultiD Analysis and TATAA Biocenter, both of which specialize in molecular analysis. In 2014, he established Life Genomics, a leading molecular diagnostics laboratory, followed by SimSen Diagnostics in 2021, which focuses on developing ultrasensitive sequencing methods. Mikael holds around 40 patents, including the invention of Two-Tailed PCR, and has been recognized with the Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Molecular Innovators at GoCo Health Innovation City in Gothenburg.
Dr. Mats Nilsson

Dr. Mats Nilsson is a professor of Biochemistry at Stockholm University and Director of the Spatial Biology Platform at SciLifeLab in Stockholm and Uppsala. As a member of the EMBO and an associated faculty at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in the UK, Dr. Nilsson leads cutting-edge research in molecular diagnostics and the development of molecular analysis tools. His pioneering work in padlock probe and Rolling Circle Amplification (RCA) technologies has paved the way for numerous companies and spinouts, including Olink, Q-linea, EMPE Diagnostics, and Cartana. With a legacy of innovation, Dr. Nilsson is the second-largest shareholder of EMPE Diagnostics .
